Partnerships Lead
Augustus· United States·
$200k–$400k
Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.
The Dollar is the best product in the history of the world - there is infinite global demand. But International Fintechs and non-US banks are left with two unsatisfying options to access it: Either they build on legacy clearing banks that are slow and unreliable, or they interface with middleware providers that don’t move and hold the dollars directly, but themselves rely on underlying legacy banks. Augustus collapses this stack by combining two things: A real, national bank charter (in organization), and Marble, our proprietary core banking system, built around intelligence, made of code.
We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We are backed with more than $200M from Peter Thiel's Valar Ventures, Tiger Global, Hummingbird, QED, Creandum, and the founders of Nubank, Ramp, Deel, Circle, Fluidstack, Fuse, and n8n.
We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.
The Role
You will be the first salesperson in our New York office and you will own a few of our most important deals.
This is an individual contributor role with maximum deal responsibility: discovery, qualifying accounts, getting inside the product roadmap, structuring commercials, and closing. Our counterparties are global financial institutions, cross-border companies, international banks and digital asset businesses across the US, LATAM, EMEA and APAC.
The deals are complex by nature. You navigate a counterparty's product, compliance, legal and technical stakeholders at once, find the real decision maker when the path isn't obvious, and clear blockers before they stall the deal.
Two things matter more than anything else on your resume: how fast you think and how badly you want to win.
Your First Six Months
Months 1-2: You get fluent enough in our accounts, API and clearing capabilities to run a deep-dive with a prospect's product and compliance teams alone. You take over your own pipeline from day 1 and start building relationships and meeting your first clients in person.
Months 3-4: You're running your full pipeline autonomously, from first discovery through negotiation. You've structured your first commercial proposals and you're getting close to signing your first deals. You've established a good operating mode with product, growth, compliance and account management.
Months 5-6: Your first deals are signed and moving money. You interact with internal stakeholders with ease. You've built trust from the market, people recognize you, and you've established your own pipeline.
Who Will Thrive At Augustus
We believe throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. The people who succeed here share the following traits:
Relentless: You can't leave something broken. You don't stop because it got hard or because no one is watching.
Set the bar: You're harder on yourself than anyone else would be. You don't need external accountability to care about quality.
Shape the Game: You don't wait for a playbook and you don't need one. You walk into genuinely new territory and figure it out. You move before anyone asked you to.
Systems first: You don't solve problems by adding people or effort. You build systems that make the problem smaller. Your first instinct is to automate, not to handle it manually.
This role is for you if:
You are extremely ambitious and your track record proves that you get your deals over the finishing line.
Complex is where you win. Multi-stakeholder organizations, unclear decision paths, legal and compliance in the room: this is the environment where you outperform.
You enjoy betting on yourself. Uncapped responsibility with an undefined playbook excites you more than a settled quota plan.
You are ready to travel ~50% of your time, always dependent on deal needs.
This is not for you if:
Your motion has been inbound, or your pipeline has historically been handed to you.
You're looking to maintain relationships rather than build them.
You're looking for a team to manage. There are no direct reports in this role.
You do not want to travel and meet clients in person
Hard Requirements
4+ years in strategic partnerships, business development or strategic sales, where you personally sourced and closed complex deals with sophisticated counterparties.
Comfortable in both technical and regulatory conversations: you can hold an API-level discussion with a prospect's engineers and a diligence discussion with their compliance team.
