[What you will be working on]
The Senior Software Engineer will lead software engineering squads to build applications for businesses, citizens and intellectual property professionals, enabling them to file and examine intellectual property with ease. He/ She will achieve this through software engineering excellence and incorporating AI capabilities into our digital products.
- Defining your team’s engineering vision, strategy, and directions that align with the organization’s overall vision and goals.
- Partnering with stakeholders and agencies to prioritize and manage roadmaps for delivering product vision incrementally and efficiently.
- Creating a long-term technical plan and roadmap for the assigned team, and for other teams as needed. Update the roadmap regularly to meet future product/business needs and infrastructure requirements.
- Work regularly with engineers to engage in conversations regarding their performance, professional growth, offering constructive feedback, mentoring, and guidance as needed.
- Working with cross-functional partners to develop quality, reliability, and security strategies within your team.
- Proactively identifying and initiating worthwhile engineering initiatives to maximize our impact on the public good.
- Establishing practices and tools to encourage a strong engineering culture and maximize engineering effectiveness and impact.
- Helping with recruitment, particularly for more senior hires.
[What we are looking for]
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working on reasonably large, high-availability software systems that have operated at scale.
- Passion towards engineering excellence; you deeply understand that software engineering is a team sport, and you take pride in the craftsmanship aspect of software engineering.
- Experience in leading and coaching developers; guiding them to achieve important goals together and helping them enhance their performance and grow their careers.
- Strong mastery of Agile/Scrum methodologies with proven experience implementing and optimising these practices across development teams and managing vendor-partner deliverables.
- Demonstrated experience in production incident management, L3 support, and system reliability practices.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, particularly Product Managers and UX designers.
- Strong experience in AWS cloud services and modern full-stack web application technologies, modern front-end engineering like Next.js/React.js and Java/TypeScript on the backend.
- Familiarity with Python for basic data analysis and Terraform for IaC.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or similar) and modern development workflows
- Solid understanding of software architecture principles, system design, and building resilient distributed systems.
- Proven experience in low code development, with good understanding of OutSystems architecture, components, lifecycle management, and best practices.
- Familiarity with government or regulated environment requirements, with experience integrating with Whole of Government platforms or GovTech products is an advantage
Please note that this will be a 2-year fixed term contract.
